The course will cover several areas of modern empirical IO. Will start reviewing theoretical predictions of the impact of market structure on market performance. Then present tools to bring those predictions into practice in policy applications, such as merger analysis and tech markets. Finally, will move into contracting empirics, covering incentives and asymmetric information. Why cover this subjects? The first part presents tools to analyze markets. Useful for policy and the basis of modern IO research. The second part covers recent research areas, which might inspire your own research.
